an idea who�s time has clearly come, moon rock volume 1 struck a nerve upon release last spring. a collection of deeply atmospheric ambience, cosmic, and chillout techno, it was the opening salvo in a much longer-term effort by nyc-based throne of blood recordings to establish a platform for a diverse collection of friends and musical fellow travellers to explore composing music for folding time and exploring innerspace. now, just months after vol. 1 hit shelves, moon rock volume 2 is upon us�

over a year in the making, moon rock volume 1 is the first in a series of compilations assembled by throne of blood recordings geared to explore the outer reaches of electronic ambience, cosmische vibrations, and crystalline acoustics. sparked by their shared love of ambient classics, label head james friedman and long-time tob artists cosmic kids put out a call for new and unreleased drones, beatless versions, and arpeggiated chillout tackle.

>the musical styles on moon harbour inhouse vol. 4< range from the deep house of luna city express and ekkohaus to the reduced groovy tech house á la tini & marc antona, andy catana and boris werner and the floor fillers by reboot and dan drastic. in this sense the selection of tracks mirrors the current breadth of styles represented by the label in its 12th year. since the third inhouse compilation, a lot has happened at moon harbour. in addition to the releases of the albums hello from planet earth by luna city express (2009) and paradigm shift by martinez (2010), the tenth anniversary of the label was celebrated with gusto in 2010 complete with the compilation and club tour, ten years of moon harbour. the year 2010 also marked the birth of the monthly moon harbour radio show. luna city express and dan drastic have been taking turns producing this show, which has already had more than 25 editions.

das album black kiss aus dem jahr 2020 begründete ihren aufstieg, und der nachfolger queen of the night aus dem jahr 2022 zementierte ihren wohlverdienten status als goth-lieblinge. aber vandal moon ist nicht die typische gothic-band. gründer blake voss hat sich schon immer den erwartungen des genres widersetzt. tatsächlich war vandal moon ursprünglich als ein experimentelles elektronisch-psychedelisches projekt geplant. seitdem hat sich die band zu gleichen teilen zu post-punk, synthpop, gothic und synthwave entwickelt.
